Chart of Accounts Project Now Operational

The Chart of Accounts Phase 2 (COA2) journey has reached a destination common to most projects’ bucket list: operational status.

Following the close of the Jun-25 period and completion of the final cutover steps, the COA2 project has concluded and is now in business-as-usual mode.

The project included these key objectives:

  • Create a more consistent and robust financial reporting across the university.
  • Enhance transaction management and tracking capabilities.
  • Eliminate unnecessary redundancies, simplify cross-validation rules, and reduce data entry errors.
  • Align the department segment with the Oracle Human Capital Management project to drive greater efficiency across Rutgers’ systems.

As project team members reflected on the work that led to the July 1 go-live, they identified “lessons learned.” For example, consistent targeted communications were beneficial—reducing confusion, amplifying feedback, and helping users understand the impacts on the way they work. The project team also focused on breaking down tasks into smaller deliverables, to help participants manage their workloads.

Lastly, the team identified areas for improvement, such as enhancing the flow of information to reach key stakeholders and users at all levels.

If you have any questions about the project, the team is monitoring all communications submitted through the UCO Help Desk Intake Form.
